1. Make sure your Side Switch is not on. On the side of your device, next to the volume buttons, there is a switch that you can flip upward or downward to activate the Silent / Ringer mode. If it shows orange, this means it is locked/muted and the sound of our app will not be heard. Flick it to show no orange, the sound should now be activated.

  2. Check that the volume is turned up

  3. Check that AirPlay mode has not been accidentally turned on, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. On the iPad, the side switch can either lock the screen rotation, or mute the device. However only some types of apps are muted, video, music and system sounds can still play (see Apple guide to the Side Switch).

  4. Go to the iOS Settings > General and under "Use Side Switch To" it will either be Lock Rotation or Mute, this will tell you what your Side Switch is setup to do.

  5. Change the side switch setting mute, now restart the app and check the Side Switch isn't showing orange as above.

  6. If you want to keep the Side Switch on Lock Rotation, you might have the device muted in the control panel. Swipe up from the bottom edge of the device and toggle the Mute button

  7. Unmute, check volume, check AirPlay and reboot the device. If that doesn't work contact us at joy@betterkids.education
